(Format: HTML)
Summary. Trichophyton tonsurans is an anthropophilic dermatophyte that is predominantly responsible in man for tinea capitis. Although this fungus has a world-wide distribution, most reports of the occurrence of Trichophyton tonsurans infections originate from the USA, Latin America and some European countries. A 31-year-old African woman, formerly a resident of Zaire, with tinea corporis caused by Trichophyton tonsurans infection is described here.
